What is the Home Control Assistant?

In today's complex environment, busy people can benefit from a home environment that anticipates their needs and helps take care of itself.  For instance, suppose your house could:

bulletTurn on outside and entryway lights at dusk everyday, or before you get home from work on weekdays?
bulletAutomatically run the hot tub filter during the day the right amount of time depending upon the season, or start the heater, filter and turn on the room lights all at the flick of one switch?  And turn them all off again when you're done?
bulletDim hall lights, turn on a ceiling light, and turn on the children's night light at a preset time each evening?
bulletTurn on kitchen lights, and start the coffee pot at the same time every weekday morning?   And at a different time on the weekends?
bulletTurn all the lights in your house on or off when you press one switch at your bedside?
bulletIntegrate into one solution weather stations, thermostats, programmable switches and downloadable controllers?
bulletHandle power failures by restoring the previous state of your home when power is restored?

All of these things are possible using your home computer and the Home Control Assistant software.

The Home Control Assistant can help you program your house to automatically respond to your typical schedule on weekdays, or a weekend or vacation schedule.  You can set up a schedule to make your home looked lived in when you are away and start that schedule with one button as you leave.  When you return, switch to an at home schedule with the same one button.  Also, you can save energy by automatically turning lights and appliances off after you're in bed.

The Home Control Assistant makes all this possible - and possible for everyone.   HCA contains a number of features that, for the first time, make automation technology accessible to both technical and non-technical users.

To learn more take very a quick tour of the Home Control Assistant.

How is the Home Control Assistant different?

Most home automation software on the market today was written by and for gadget lovers.   While some software is very technically capable, it is often hard to use.   We approached the design and construction of the Home Control Assistant from a modern software perspective.  All the features that have been pioneered by Microsoft in their productivity applications - wizards, object properties, property inspectors, visual tools - have been built into HCA.  While we don't have the designed for Windows logo (there doesn't seem to be a category for this sort of program) we do meet all the relevant parts of that specification.

You will see the difference.  HCA is home automation for the rest of us.

On this web site we've provided a number of resources to help you learn about our products, resolve problems, report bugs, and suggest improvements.
