MS providing free antivirus

Yup, microsoft just released a free antivirus program:

I usually use the free AVG antivirus, but going to test out MSE and see how it performs. AVG can be a pain to upgrade on occasion.

Nope... it's Microsoft Security Essentials, something one has to download and install. Separate from defender.

I'm actually quite pleased with Security Essentials.... runs great for freeware, doesn't take a lot of resources even on a full system scan. I barely not any changed when converting from AVG and the update process has been excellent as well. Unlike the frequent notifications from AVG about failed updates etc...
