I am looking for anybody that has any experience with the UPB version of the RCS UPB thermostat.

I have an old RCS TX-15-B X-10 that I've been using for YEARS with zero problems. BUT, I'm doing a retrofit of a home and I'm loathe to use X-10 anywhere in the house. I will if I HAVE to but the house is going to be as near 100% Insteon as I can possibly make it.

Problem is that I don't like what I've seen and read about the Venstar Insteon compatible thermostats and really don't want to use one.

Right now, I'm planning on using a UPB PLC and a UPB RCS Thermo. Can anyone make any comments, good or bad about both the Venstar Insteon Units and the UPB RCS unit.

I need opinions from owners of these devices, primarily I'm interested to know how happy Venstar owners are and how happy UPB owners are with the available theremostats for both technologies.

Thanks
Steve

Just as an FYI, Smarthome has announced V2.0 of their Insteon thermostat adapter, and they are offering trade-ups to anyone who has purchased the old version - I'm not exactly sure if there is a time limit on how long ago the old one was purchased (I don't see any).

I had exactly the same situation...I had the RCS X-10 thermostat, but wanted to go all UPB. I installed the RCS UPB thermostat, and I am very pleased with it. The latest version of HCA has greatly improved the communications reliability with the RCS UPB thermostat, and I would say that it is as reliable as all my other UPB devices.
