For all the X-10 diehards out there, If you are not familar with the JV Digital Engineering gear do yourself a favor and have a look. http://www.jvde.us/ (http://www.jvde.us/)
They offer a number of signal boosters and phase bridge devices to fit just about any electrical distribution. Their products are availble in kit form and assembled. I put together their XTBR signal booster and installed it in my X-10 network and it has been running now for about 3 weeks. I removed a few filters to test network reliability after the installation. There is no reason to put them back. The XTBR has improved my network reliablity dramatically. I haven't had one x-10 command falure since the XTBR installion. For awhile I thought I would have to retire my X-10 investment and send a bunch on Insteon. Not anymore.
