I purchased six of the new Insteon 2457D2 LampLinc (Dual-Band) modules. When I turn on/off or dim/brighten the attached lamps using the buttons on the 2457D2, I don't believe the events show up in HCA's log. I also don't believe we can react to 2457D2 events in HCA. Am I wrong? If not, can this feature be added in the future?
As a side note, how does everyone handle local changes to lamp status in HCA? Frequently my wife will turn on or off a lamp that is attached to a module and that change of state isn't picked up in HCA. I wrote a small program in HCA to poll all devices for their current status. I suppose I could run that program every five minutes. Is that how you all are handling this situation?
Thanks in advance.

The Dual Band devices are fairly new and I don't think they're supported by HCA completely. Hopefully we'll see full support for them in a new release.

I used the same method as your suggesting--Status request every 20 minutes. This works , however your log file gets filed up with a lot of status request logs.

I don't think HCA expects any Insteon commands sent from a LampLinc; That probably neeeds to be fixed. I don't have one of these to experiment with, but in the past I have worked around unsupported devices by lying to HCA and telling HCA it is a different device. You might try telling HCA it's a Switchlinc and see if you can link up with it and get the two-way thing going.
Alternatively, with the older LampLincs, you could program them with X-10 codes and they would transmit the X-10 code which HCA could track, even though HCA would not use the X-10 code to control it - this is the purpose of the "Alternate X-10 Address" on the address tab. The older lamplincs would transmit the X-10 code (but not the Insteon command - go figure) even when the lamp was manually turned on or off, so you could track the status with HCA using the X-10 transmissions from the Lamplinc, and control it with the Insteon commands.

Thanks for your suggestions! I'll give that a try.

Have the same problem with the 2457D2. I think the problem lies in the fact that you cannot setup linking because the LampLinc can't send commands, or so it says under properties. Although, I have it configured for 2456D2 because there is no 2457D2 in HCA's list.
I normally use a RemoteLinc instead of the device buttons and had the same issue with that. I found a way around this by adding triggers for the RemoteLinc button on and off under the LampLinc device. Seems to work ok now. Hope this helps someone...

Actually, if you check the pdf for the 2457D it's capable of being a controller so it should have a linking option in HCA. The problem seems to be they don't have support for the 2457D2 yet. I'm assuming the older 2456D2 didn't allow controlling so that's why it's not an option. It's not even sold anymore.
I did find a work around though, set your lamplinc into linking mode, then push the set button on your modem for 3+ seconds and it'll link them manually. I tried that and it works like a charm! :D
