I have to say I'm completely amazed with the full functionality of the client server architecture! For the last 3 years I've had HCA running on a PC stored in my basement and I would always have to VNC into the system in order to interact with HCA. Part of that was good in that I created a home automation solution that didn't require a lot of interaction with a UI. But now that I can keep HCA running on that same PC and connect to it from my desktop upstairs, I find myself checking the status of lights and programs more often and tinkering with my programs to perform even better. I am still amazed that the client is a full blown client doing everything one could do on the standalone interface.
Great job on this brand new feature for v10!!!

I'll 2nd that -- the timing was really good for me. I've been working on a project for the past several months getting jukebox-like setups throughout my house using cheap PC's and used LCD touch screens off e-bay. They were meant to have an interface like the touch screens you see at bars. When I saw the client/server ability, coupled with the touchscreen friendly addition as well, I was hooked. FINALLY a way to have nice X10-based touchscreens a plenty without spending thousands!

Totally cool upgrade. An iPad touchpad interface will make this damn near perfect....

This feature is perfect. I have a large installation with about 40 Insteon devices. The Insteon devices have a lot of problems (not HCA related). Loading the client on my laptop with WIFI makes it easy to troubleshoot.

This is a very nice addition to HCA's features - I love it! I've been running HCA on my TV/Video box which doesn't have a dedicated monitor (other than the HDTV), so now I can run the server on that box and the client on my workstation with 1600x1200 where I can see my floorplan again.
I've also connected the Android app and it was up and running on the first try - nice.

How about a client interface for Mac?

This was a great boon for me as well. I have HCA Server running on my WHS machine as a service. I connect using the HCA client on my Win7 x64 desktop or my Win7 x32 laptop. I have also tried the android app on my Droid X. All work as advertized.
Well almost. I do have a couple of glitches and I'm curious if others have seen the same things or if you can show me the error in my methods!
First, the setup for the Insteon 2414U seems to be saved in the design file but the Elk Magic Module and W800RF32 configurations do not survive a HCA server crash (see next item).
I'm trying to create a new program to prevent turning on some lights early in the morning when we have upstairs guests. Most of our guests don't want to get up at 5:30 with me! Anyway, when I create the test for the new flag in the visual programmer, validate and save the design all seems ok. When I start the program the HCA server crashes. I then stop and restart the HCA service on the WHS box and reconnect the HCA client. The flag configuration in the visual programer test element was not saved and the Magic Module & W800RF configurations have dissapeared.
Any suggestions?

The test on flag configuration sounds very similar to an sms bug I had reported earlier to the development team. I dropped them a quick email just now about your post.

My suggestion would be to contact tech support and provide as much info as possible for us to recreate the problem. There are so many ways to add a new flag that they key will be to provide tech support with your file and then a step by step reproduction scenario. Tech support can be reached by TechSup@HCATech.com
