Client text to voice

HCA ver 10 client-server feature is really a great addition. My server is in the basement which is not all that convenient. Now I use a laptop to configure and monitor my network. But, there is a VP element that has lost some of its functionality. Show Message text to voice doesn’t seem to work on a client. I sure would like to have voice messages from the client locations.

You can try Airfoil, if you have not already....and don't mind setting up another app (for now?).

They have a somewhat crippled (overlays noise after a certain use period) free demo you can try.

Right now I have it running on my server and two clients (client "speaker only" software is free).

To setup I had airfoil "hijack" the hca server software and enabled it to broadcast to the two clients (which have the airfoil speaker app software installed)....all inside the LAN.

I've used this software in the past for other purposes (ipad touch) ...it's had its quirks but has improved over time.

So far it seems to be fine working in the above arrangement...but I just set it up today....needs a bit more test time...just thought I'd pass it along.

I know this concern has been raised to HCA support a couple of times so they may be working on a resolution.

That would be a very welcome enhancement/fix to HCA as the solution I'm using now is not ideal (there are a few issues) but it "covers' me for the time being .... I do like/use the voice feature for certain programs/conditions.

HCA 10.1 has configuration to allow the clients to handle Speak VP elements.
