Not at this time.

UPB is a very capable system that everyone doing automation should examine. The available devices are, without a doubt, the most feature capable of any similar product.

Hi, not sure if I'm in the right place for this but do I need Powerlinc or Houselinc 2 to run Insteon products with HCA 10 and which is better?

Probably best over at Insteon section, but you don't need Houselinc 2.

You DO need a Powerlinc Modem to run HCA with Insteon....2413U (USB), 2413S (Serial), 2413UH , 2413SH I think are your current choices with the latter 2 being bundled with HL2 software.

The Houselinc 2 package does include a Powerlinc modem which apparently is slightly different than the std PLM...some additional firmware code?...it's the 2413UH or 2413SH... and which IS required to run the Houselinc 2 software.

Either the std (2413U or 2413S) or HL2 modified (UH or SH) seem to work fine with HCA.

Ken

P.S. HL2 does have some nice diagnostic features, I just wish they had it as freeware and didn't do the "slightly different modem" thing...the marketeers must have been involved in this decision...

Moved this into the Insteon forum...

As Ken said above, you don't need HL2. I don't have it, I simply have the 2414U, but if you want to take advantage of the dual band features you'll need the 2413 versions.

Just be aware, for the older 2414 PLC, on the SH web page for the product:

"Important Note: At this time, the PowerLinc Controller 2414U is not supported in Windows 7 64-bit."

Don't know if this is still/really the case or if it matters to you...

They used to have a 2412 series (no dual band) PLM but looks like they have been discontinued in favor of the 2413.
